I am someone who loves traditions and gets very nostalgic. However, since entering the world of social media, I have realised just how much things have changed. I have come to believe it is important that the older generation embrace the changes and allow smooth transitions to take place for the sake of future generations.

Many are clinging on to 'the way things were done' and wanting to go back to a time when things were simpler; more cut and dried; more British. We have to remember that Britain chose to go out and conquer other countries and make them part of the British Empire. Sadly, the implications of those actions, and subsequent consequences, have not sat well with many.

We have become a global community. I have the means to sell my books all over the world. I can't be sad about that. Plus, we need to get together with all other countries to deal with the damage we have inflicted on our beautiful planet. One country alone will not manage to solve this problem. There are a million reasons to embrace globalisation, not least that we can do so much more together than we can competing with each other.

There is one certainty in life and that is change. Bring it on.
