Blagging the Blog

Hi. I wasn’t sure how to start. I think I’d be more comfortable with the word Blag rather than Blog, at the moment. If you read the ‘About the Author’ bit on this website, you’ll already know that I’m a bit uncomfortable talking about myself. However, I think it’s important we get to know each other so I’m afraid you’ll soon discover that I am an opinionated, emotional and quite political person. I’m not sure I like that about myself but, as my biggest dislike is injustice, I’ve not, so far, been able to change. However, when it comes to telling stories either on stage, on film or in books, I think to be a bit passionate about things can serve an author well. On the other hand, if you express opinions against something too strongly, you are in danger of putting off your readers.

This causes me somewhat of a dilemma as I believe in being honest. Not in the current popular way of ‘telling it how it is’ which is just someone’s opinion and not necessarily fact! Frankly, I think it’s an excuse for getting away with being rude. In my novels, I often try and temper an opinion by somehow getting the opposite point of view into the story and then, let the readers make up their own minds.

Anyway, I hope I don’t offend you with anything I may write. Feel free to challenge me if I do. I like hearing the other side because it reminds me of what a diverse world we live in and how, really, we know nothing.
